Amitabha Buddha

The Buddha of infinite light and boundless compassion.

Amitābha is the Buddha of Infinite Light and Boundless Compassion, central to Mahāyāna and especially Pure Land Buddhism. His name means "infinite light" (and, as Amitāyus, "infinite life"). By his great vow, he established a Pure Land — Sukhāvatī, the "Land of Bliss" — where all who call upon him with sincere faith may be reborn and find the conditions for awakening.

His qualities. Limitless light, mercy, and welcome — a refuge of compassion open to all beings without exception.

In practice. Devotees recite his name (nembutsu) as a heartfelt practice of trust and remembrance; in energy work, his presence is invoked for compassion, peace, and a sense of being held in unconditional light.

Honouring Amitābha is a faith- and intention-based spiritual practice for compassion and peace — offered for reflection and reverence.
