Legal & Policies

This section describes what ReikiPedia actually does with your data — not what a template says it might. We practise data minimisation: we collect what the app needs to work, and nothing is used to profile or advertise to you.

Reading without an account. The library is served from a protected database, so the app opens a technical, anonymous session for you when it loads. We would rather be exact about this than reassuring: that session is not only held in your browser. It creates a lasting technical record on our side — an identifier, the time it was made, and, in the session record itself, your IP address and the type of browser you are using. An IP address counts as personal data, so this is data about you that we hold from your very first visit, before you have clicked anything at all.

What that record does not hold is anything you gave us: no name, no email address, and nothing you have written. Nothing else in our database is attached to it either — we checked, and an anonymous session owns no rows anywhere in the app's tables. Your settings, recently viewed items, and anything you write before signing in stay in your browser's storage on your own device.

We do this because the library cannot be read without it: access to the content is restricted at the database, so a session is what lets a page of the app show you anything. Our basis for it is our legitimate interest in serving the library and keeping it from being abused, and we do not use these records to profile you or to build an audience.

How long those records last. Plainly: they are not deleted automatically today. We are not going to print a tidy number here that nothing in the system actually enforces — when a fixed period is in place, this page will say what it is, and it will be true. If you want the record of your visits removed before then, write to hello@reikipedia.guide.

If you join the launch waitlist. Before ReikiPedia opens you can leave your email address to hear when it does. We then send you one message asking you to confirm that address, and nothing else happens until you do — the address is on no list, and if you never confirm it we delete it after 30 days. What you agree to is exactly this: “I would like ReikiPedia to e-mail me when the app opens, plus occasional notes before launch. I can unsubscribe from any message.” Alongside the address we keep the wording you agreed to, the date, and which page you agreed on, so that we can show what was asked and answered. Once you confirm, your address goes to Encharge, the service that sends those letters for us, and we keep it until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Every letter carries an unsubscribe link, and using it is enough — you never have to write to us. This is separate from an account: joining the waitlist does not create one, and it never gives you the app.

When you create an account. You sign in either with a link sent to your email address, or with Google, or with Apple. We then hold your email address, a display name and avatar if you set one, your practice level, your personal invite code, and — permanently, so referral rewards cannot be re-assigned — the invite code you originally arrived with. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address and basic profile details; Google's own policy governs what happens on their side. If you sign in with Apple, Apple tells us your email address, and your name only the first time you authorise us; should you choose to hide your address, we receive only the relay address Apple creates for us and never your real one.

What you create. Your notes, journal entries, favourites, sequences, projects, course progress, and app settings are stored against your account so they follow you between devices. We do not read them for any purpose other than giving them back to you and keeping the service running.

Reminders. If you switch reminders on, we store that preference, and on the mobile app a device token so a notification can reach your device. Switching reminders off stops it.

Consents and administrative records. When you give or withdraw a consent we record that fact and its timestamp, so we can show what you agreed to and when. Administrative actions on accounts and content are written to an audit log.

Beta feedback. On our invite-only test builds a feedback widget is available; sending a report shares your message, an optional screenshot, your sign-in email, and technical context (browser, screen size, the screen you were on, the build version). That widget is not present on the public app.

Paid features. Nothing is on sale in ReikiPedia today. When paid plans launch we will hold your subscription status and the reference the payment provider gives us — and this page will be updated before that happens, not after.

Usage counting, and what you are asked about. Counting which screens are opened is the only thing we ask you about; a crash report is not, because without one a fault nobody can see is a fault nobody can fix — when error monitoring is running, a crash sends the error, where in the code it happened, and the path of the screen you were on, and nothing else: no account, no email, no web address you arrived through, and nothing you have written. You can change the usage-counting answer whenever you like, in one click, under Profile → Privacy.

What we do not do. We run no analytics or product-tracking tools, no error-monitoring service and no advertising or profiling networks. We do not collect location data. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

Who processes data for us. Running the service means a small number of companies handle parts of it:

• Supabase — Database, sign-in, and file storage — your account and everything you save live here. Data location: EU (Frankfurt, eu-central-1).
• Cloudflare — Serves the app to your browser, so it handles the connection itself.
• Resend — Sends the transactional email we owe you — sign-in links and account messages.
• Google — Handles the sign-in if you choose “Continue with Google”.
• Apple — Handles the sign-in if you choose “Continue with Apple”. If you ask Apple to hide your address, we only ever see the relay address Apple gives us, never your real one.
• Spotify — Provides the podcast player embedded on the Home screen.
• Encharge — Sends the launch-waitlist letters, if you asked for them — the welcome note and occasional word before we open. It holds only the address you gave and the record that you confirmed it. Every message carries an unsubscribe link.

Your account and everything in it are stored in the European Union. The remaining services are reached by your browser as you use the app; see Cookies for what each of them can see.

How long we keep it. Your account and its contents stay until the account is deleted — nothing is removed automatically. You can delete it yourself at any time, in the app, under Profile → Danger zone → Delete account. That removes your profile and sign-in, your notes and journal entries, your favourites, sequences and projects, your progress and settings, your reminder preferences, your invite code and referrals, and the record of the consents you gave.

It reaches beyond ReikiPedia. ReikiPedia shares one sign-in with AVUS, our separate link and affiliate service. One account, one deletion: if you hold an AVUS membership, deleting your account here also deletes it — your access, your role and your partner handle. Short links and workspaces you created there keep working and keep the clicks they collected; they simply stop belonging to you. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, deleting your account does not cancel that subscription — cancel it in your store settings.

Some things deliberately survive it, and we would rather say so than let you find out: a bug report you sent us keeps its text and screenshot but loses your name and email address, and we keep an administrative record that an account was deleted — it holds no name and no email. Deleting is immediate, and we cannot undo it. When you confirm the deletion your account and its contents go straight away, and there is no waiting period in which you could change your mind — so please be sure before you confirm. We have no way to bring an individual account back.

Backups, and why they do not contradict that. The database as a whole is backed up once a day, and each backup is kept for 7 days before it is overwritten. Those backups exist for one purpose — rebuilding the whole service if something destroys it — and we never reach into one to restore a single account, which is exactly why your deletion cannot be reversed. So: your data is gone from the live service the moment you delete it, while for up to 7 more days a copy can still sit inside a whole-database backup that nobody opens. After 7 days the last of those copies has been overwritten.

Your rights. Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, object to or restrict how we use it, ask for it in a portable form, and withdraw any consent at any time. Write to hello@reikipedia.guide — we reply within one working day, and we complete the request itself within the one month the GDPR allows, sooner where we can. You can also complain to your national data-protection authority.

By using ReikiPedia you agree to use it lawfully and respectfully, and not to misuse, copy, or redistribute its content beyond your personal practice.

How old you need to be. ReikiPedia is for people aged 16 and over, and by using it you confirm that you are. It is not built for children and we do not knowingly keep accounts for them; if you believe a younger person has created one, write to hello@reikipedia.guide and we will remove it.

Your account. Sign-in is tied to your email address, your Google account, or your Apple account, so keeping access to those is what keeps your account yours. Tell us if you think someone else has got in. You can delete the account yourself at any time — see Privacy for exactly what that removes.

Nothing is on sale yet. ReikiPedia is free to use today. Paid plans are not being offered, and no payment details are collected anywhere in the app. Before any paid plan goes live, the purchase, renewal, cancellation, and withdrawal terms will be published here.

Your content. The notes, journal entries, and sequences you create remain yours; you grant us only the limited licence needed to store them and show them back to you.

Availability. The service is provided on an “as is” basis and is still evolving — features can change, and access can be interrupted. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from its use. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited.

Which law applies. These terms are governed by Polish law, and ReikiPedia is operated from Poland. If you are a consumer, that choice does not take away the protection given to you by the mandatory rules of the country you live in: those rules continue to apply, and you keep the right to bring a case before the courts there.

Content is provided in good faith for general information. We make no warranties about the completeness, accuracy, or reliability of any information, and any reliance you place on it is strictly at your own risk.

Symbol names, scripts, and traditions are presented as faithfully as we can; interpretations vary across lineages and teachers, and ReikiPedia's presentation does not claim to be the single authoritative account.

ReikiPedia has a referral programme: your invite link carries a personal code, and someone who arrives through it is credited to you from their first visit. That code is stored in your browser and written onto their account when they sign up. The rewards, and the rules that go with them, are set out in the Referral Programme Terms.

The app currently carries no paid affiliate links to other companies' products. If that changes — if we link somewhere and earn a commission, including a recurring one — we will disclose it at that point, and an affiliate relationship will never change our editorial judgement.

The sacred symbols themselves belong to the tradition and humanity's shared heritage. ReikiPedia's original artwork, written content, curation, software, animations, and design are protected by copyright and may not be reproduced or redistributed without permission.

Third-party assets (e.g. soundscapes, embeds) remain the property of their respective owners and are used under their licences. If you believe content infringes your rights, email hello@reikipedia.guide with enough detail to identify the material and we will look into it.

ReikiPedia sets no advertising cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts of its own. What the app does keep on your device is what makes it work:

• Browser storage — your theme, language, settings, recently viewed symbols, and anything you write before signing in. It stays on your device; clearing your browser data clears it.
• Your sign-in session — once you sign in, the session token is kept in browser storage so you are not signed out on every visit.
• A referral record — kept only if you arrive through someone's invite link, and held in two places at once: a cookie carrying just that invite code, and a small record in your browser's storage that also notes when you arrived and which page of the app you first opened. That last one is the page address alone — never the search terms after it, and nothing that names you. Both are limited to 60 days, and both are deleted as soon as you sign in.

Third parties your browser contacts. Some parts of the app are served by other companies, and reaching them means your browser tells them your IP address and device details:

• Spotify — the podcast player on the Home screen is an embedded Spotify player, and Spotify sets its own cookies once it loads.
• Google Sign-In — only if you choose to sign in with Google.
• Sign in with Apple — only if you choose to sign in with Apple.

Each of these is governed by its own privacy policy. The Spotify player does not load by itself: until you press play, the app shows a button of its own in the player's place and nothing has been asked of Spotify. Pressing play is what loads the player, and what lets Spotify set its cookies — so leaving it alone is all it takes, and the rest of the app works without it. Browser settings that block third-party content will stop it as well.

We may update these documents as the product evolves. When we do, the date at the top of this page changes; continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
