Archangel Raphael

Archangel Raphael is revered across Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions as the great angel of healing. His name means "God heals," and he appears as a companion and protector who restores sight and guides travellers safely home.

His domains. Raphael is most associated with healing of every kind — physical, emotional, and spiritual — and with safe travel, guidance, and the care of the natural world. He is traditionally pictured with a healing balm or a traveller's staff.

Colour and light. In energy-healing circles he is linked with a soothing emerald-green light, the colour of the heart and of renewal, which practitioners visualize surrounding a person to support recovery and ease.

In Reiki. Many healers feel a natural kinship with Raphael, calling on him to assist and amplify a session, to comfort the distressed, or to watch over those who travel. He is often invoked alongside the wider Angels of Healing.
