Aura Cleansing
Clearing stagnant or foreign energy from the auric field.
Aura cleansing is the practice of clearing stagnant, heavy, or foreign energy from the auric field — the subtle atmosphere of energy surrounding the body. Just as we wash the physical body, traditions hold that the energy field gathers residue from stress, difficult encounters, and crowded places, and benefits from regular clearing.
Why it's done. A clouded or congested field is associated with feeling drained, irritable, or "not yourself." Cleansing is said to lift this residue, leaving a person clearer, lighter, and more themselves.
Common methods:
- Hands. Sweeping or "combing" the hands through the field a few inches from the body to gather and release heavy energy — a staple of Reiki, often using Cho Ku Rei.
- Smoke & scent. Smudging with herbs or incense.
- Sound. Bells, singing bowls, or the voice to break up stagnation.
- Water & salt. A salt bath or shower with the intention of washing the field clean.
Afterward. Filling the cleared space with fresh, loving energy — and grounding — completes the practice.
Aura cleansing is a complementary, intention-based practice for refreshment and balance — supportive of wellbeing, never a substitute for medical care.
