Buddha
The awakened one; the embodiment of enlightenment and compassion.
The Buddha — "the Awakened One" — is the title given to Siddhārtha Gautama, the sage of ancient India (c. 5th century BCE) whose awakening gave rise to Buddhism. More broadly, "Buddha" names the state of full awakening: liberation from suffering through wisdom and boundless compassion.
His teaching. The path of mindfulness, ethical living, and meditation, leading beyond craving and delusion to peace and clarity — embodied in qualities of serenity, equanimity, and loving-kindness.
In energy & Reiki practice. Reiki itself grew from Mikao Usui's Buddhist and meditative roots. Practitioners may hold the Buddha's image or qualities — stillness, compassion, presence — as a focus for meditation and a steadying influence in their practice.
Honouring the Buddha is a contemplative, intention-based practice for peace and compassion — offered for reflection and reverence.
