चक्र
Chakras (चक्र) are the body's energy centers; many Reiki practitioners use them to guide hand placements and balance.
Chakra (चक्र) is the Sanskrit word for "wheel" — often pictured as a spinning vortex of energy. Chakras are understood as energy centers within the body that take in and distribute life-force energy (prana or ki). The concept comes from the yogic and tantric traditions of India and was later woven into many modern Reiki approaches.
The seven major chakras. Most systems describe seven, running from the base of the spine to the crown of the head: root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and crown. Each is associated with a region of the body and a quality of inner life.
The wheel image. When the chakras are pictured as turning freely and in alignment, energy is said to flow smoothly — supporting a felt sense of balance and vitality.
In Reiki. Many practitioners use the chakras as a map, placing their hands on or above each center to encourage the energy to move evenly through the body.
Note
The chakra model is a traditional and symbolic framework, not a medical one — a way of thinking about balance and wellbeing rather than a clinical diagnosis.
