Goddess Oshun

Yoruba goddess of love, rivers, and fertility.

Ọ̀ṣun is a beloved òrìṣà (deity) of the Yoruba people of West Africa — goddess of love, beauty, fresh waters, fertility, and prosperity. Associated with rivers, especially the Osun River in Nigeria, she embodies sweetness, sensuality, abundance, and the life-giving, flowing power of water.

Her qualities. Love and beauty, fertility and creativity, abundance and prosperity, and the healing, nourishing flow of fresh water. She is often honoured with the colour gold, honey, and mirrors.

In practice. Within the wider family of the world's sacred traditions, practitioners may honour Oshun for matters of love, self-worth, creativity, fertility, and emotional flow and renewal.

Honouring Oshun is a faith- and intention-based practice drawn from a living tradition — approached with respect for its Yoruba origins, and offered for reflection and reverence.
