Iris Ishikuro
A relative and Master student of Hawayo Takata who, with Arthur Robertson, is linked to the Raku Kei system and helped Reiki spread widely in the West.
Iris Ishikuro was a relative of Hawayo Takata — the teacher who first brought Reiki to the West — and one of the Masters Takata trained in the Usui system.
Known for. After Takata's death in 1980, Ishikuro followed her own guidance and taught for a modest fee rather than the large sum Takata had required. Through her student Arthur Robertson, this opened the way for Reiki to spread quickly, and much of the West's Reiki lineage traces back through her.
Lineage. With Robertson she is associated with Raku Kei (“the Way of the Fire Dragon”), a branch blending Usui Reiki with Tibetan healing methods. It introduced several non-Usui elements, including the Raku symbol, used to ground and seal a student after attunement and to separate the energies of student and master.
