Marla Abraham

A Reiki practitioner credited within the Tera Mai and Karuna symbol traditions with channeling the Akasha (Gnosa) symbol.

Known for. Marla Abraham is credited with receiving the symbol Akasha — also recorded in some Karuna compilations as Gnosa, from the Greek gnosis, “knowledge.” Akasha means “ether,” the element said to bind earth, air, fire, and water.

Lineage. By teacher Kathleen Milner's own account, Abraham was given the symbol after completing Milner's Reiki Mastership class; it was originally called “Planetary Healing and Enlightenment.” The symbol later circulated through the Tera Mai and Karuna families of Reiki.

Beyond this attribution, little verifiable biographical information about her is publicly documented, and sources differ on the spelling of her name (Marla, Maria, or Marie).
