Nature Spirit

Elemental consciousness living within the natural world.

Nature Spirits are the elemental consciousnesses said to live within and tend the natural world — the living awareness of trees, plants, stones, waters, and land. Known across cultures by many names — devas, elementals, fae, the "little folk," genii loci — they are understood as the unseen caretakers of nature's life and balance.

The elements. Traditions often group them by element: gnomes of the earth, undines of water, sylphs of air, and salamanders of fire — along with the deva or guardian spirit of a particular place, plant, or garden.

How they're worked with. Practitioners approach nature spirits with respect and gratitude — asking permission before gathering plants, tending a garden in partnership with its devas, or simply offering thanks — cultivating a reciprocal, caring relationship with the living land.

Honouring the nature spirits is a faith- and intention-based practice for connection with nature — offered for reflection and reverence.
