Reiji-ho

霊示法

Letting intuition — the indication of the spirit — guide where the hands are placed.

Reiji-hō (霊示法) means "the method of the indication of the spirit" — the art of letting intuition, rather than a fixed routine, guide where the hands are placed. It is one of the traditional Japanese practices at the heart of Usui Reiki.

The practice. It begins with quiet preparation: hands in gasshō at the heart, a moment of stillness, and a sincere request that the Reiki flow where it is needed and that one be guided to the right places. The practitioner then sets the thinking mind aside and follows the subtle pull of intuition — being led by the energy itself.

Trusting the inner sense. Hands may be drawn to areas the mind would never have chosen. Reiji-hō is the discipline of trusting these promptings — a felt nudge, an inner knowing, a sense of "here" — over routine.

A natural pair. Reiji-hō works hand in hand with Byōsen (sensing imbalance through the hands): together they let a session become a living conversation between practitioner, recipient, and the energy.

As one of the Three Pillars of Usui Reiki, Reiji-hō reflects the tradition's deep trust in intuition and the spirit's quiet guidance.
