Space Clearing
Energetically cleansing a room, home, or environment of stagnant energy.
Space clearing is the practice of energetically cleansing a room, home, or workplace of stagnant, heavy, or lingering energy — the felt residue of stress, illness, conflict, or simply time. Just as a space can feel physically stuffy, traditions hold that it can feel energetically heavy, and benefit from a refresh.
When it's done. Common moments include moving into a new home, after an argument or illness, before and after a healing session, or whenever a room simply feels "off."
Common methods:
- Reiki & symbols. Drawing Cho Ku Rei into the corners and center of a room, projecting it through the space with intention.
- Smoke & scent. Smudging with herbs or burning incense.
- Sound. Bells, singing bowls, or clapping to break up stagnation in still corners.
- Air & light. Opening windows, letting in sunlight, and setting a clear intention for the space.
Filling the space. Clearing is followed by inviting in fresh, peaceful energy — and often a protective intention so the room holds its new calm.
Space clearing is a complementary, intention-based practice for creating a calm environment — a way of tending atmosphere, not a medical or structural remedy.
