Tibetan Reiki

A modern blend incorporating Tibetan symbols, mantras, and techniques.

Tibetan Reiki is a modern, Western-developed blend that weaves elements drawn from Tibetan spirituality — additional symbols, mantras, and breathing techniques — into the framework of Usui Reiki. Despite the name, it is a contemporary synthesis rather than an ancient Tibetan lineage.

What it adds. Practitioners often work with extra symbols beyond the classic Usui set — such as the Fire Serpent (sometimes linked to Nin Giz Zida), used to align the chakras and draw energy down through the body — along with techniques like Tibetan breathing and the Violet Breath used in some attunements.

Its flavour. The additions give it a focus on grounding, kundalini-like energy flow along the spine, and a blending of Reiki with broader esoteric and Himalayan-inspired imagery.

A branch among many. Tibetan Reiki is one of the many eclectic forms that grew as Reiki spread westward and teachers integrated other influences — valued by some for its added tools, while the Usui foundation remains at its core.

Tibetan Reiki is one of many modern branches of the Reiki family — a complementary practice for relaxation and spiritual growth, never a substitute for medical care.
