White Buffalo Calf Woman

White Buffalo Calf Woman (Ptesáŋwiŋ) is a sacred spirit and prophet of the Lakota (Sioux) people, revered as the holy being who brought the Lakota their most sacred teachings. In the tradition, she appeared in a time of need, gifting the people the sacred pipe (čhaŋnúŋpa) and the ceremonies and ways of living in right relationship with the Creator and all of life, before departing as a white buffalo calf.

Her teaching. Sacred prayer and ceremony, harmony with all beings ("all my relations"), respect for the earth, and walking in a good and balanced way. Her return is held as a sign of renewal and hope.
