William Lee Rand

William Lee Rand is a contemporary American Reiki master and teacher, founder and president of the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT). He has taught Reiki full time since 1989 and has written extensively on its history, philosophy, and practice.

Known for. Rand developed the Usui/Tibetan system of Reiki and, in the mid-1990s with a group of his students, the Karuna Reiki system, later introducing the Holy Fire system.

By his own account Rand did not channel the Karuna symbols himself; he drew together work received by others — among them Kathleen Milner, Marcy Miller, Catherine Mills, Pat Courtney and Kellie-Ray Marine — and built it into a single system with its own attunements (symbols such as Harth, Iava, Rama and Shanti).
